Recipe import questions
Saving recipes from notebooks: FAQ
Need a hand with an import? Our Help Center has more tips.
Can PantryAI save handwritten recipes?
Yes. Use From Photo to import a clear image of a notebook page or handwritten recipe card. PantryAI extracts the visible recipe details, which you can review and edit in the app.
How should I photograph an old recipe notebook?
Use even lighting, keep the page flat, and hold your camera directly above it. Make sure the writing is sharp and that no ingredients or instructions are cut off. A separate close-up can help with a crowded page.
Can I import a handwritten recipe that spans two pages?
Yes. Select images of the pages together in From Photo. You can choose up to four images for one recipe, so the ingredient list and method can be combined during the import.
Can I correct a quantity that was read differently?
Yes. Open the saved recipe in PantryAI and edit its details. Handwritten numbers and family shorthand are worth checking against the page before you cook.
Do photo imports require a PantryAI subscription?
PantryAI offers weekly, monthly, and annual subscriptions. Current access, pricing, and any eligible introductory trial are displayed in the app before you confirm a purchase.
